The making and construction of my Classical Ballet Tutus
Individually Tailored bodice
Twelve layers of pleated tutu net
Three part construction: bodice, basque & skirt
The hooped skirt has twelve tiers, shaped to follow the body line & hand strung together.
A separate skirt plate is added.
Decoration is added by hand.
May be minimal or elaborate, according to your choice.
A tutu skirt contains between 10-26 square meters of tutu net, depending on size, requiring between 56-86 mtrs of pleating to form the skirt layers.
Finally, the tutu is carefully hand sewn together.
This is an example of an 8pc bodice for a young dancer.
